Flavour Social

Revised Date: 18 March 2024

Flavour is a social app that allows you to discover and chat with other users who answer user generated questions the same as you.

We at Flavour take the utmost care to ensure your data is handled in a secure manner. In this document we try our best to clearly outline how we collect and use your data for the benefit of offering you the best possible service. We value your trust in us and will continue to try to improve our services for you. If you have any queries, please contact our support team.

In this document “Service” refers to any website or software that is owned by us (Flavour). The reader of this document and/or user of our services will be referred to as “you”. By using our services, you understand and agree to our Privacy Policy as well as our Terms of Service.

1. Information We Collect

When you first register an account with us you provide us your email address, gender and date of birth. If you choose to sign in through a third party such as Google we only store your email address. Your gender and age information are required to match you up with suitable users. Your email will get used to contact you if we detect any suspicious account activity or for important account updates.

When you create your profile, you provide us with a short description of yourself (bio), which genders you want to match with, relevant account tags and pictures of yourself. We store this information until you change it, or your account gets deleted. To be able to add pictures from your mobile device you must grant us access to your photo album. We only store the images you upload to your profile. You can delete a profile picture at any time through the app. If you delete all your profile pictures you account won’t be active. This means you won’t be able to use the matching feature, and other users won’t be able to match with you.

Your phone’s location is accessed each time you sign into your account. This allows us to restrict the matches we show you to those within a certain radius of you. The distance between users is displayed to both parties (you and your match). Your mobile phone operating system will prompt you if you want to allow the app from accessing your location. You can revoke this permission at any time within the settings of your mobile phone’s operating system. This will, however, result in less accurate match results.

Your device’s unique ID is sent and stored on our servers to prevent account misuse as well as being able to send you notifications.

The answers you input to questions are recorded to provide you with suitable matches. This information is stored until the question is deleted or your account is deleted.

We temporarily store chat messages on our servers until they are delivered to the other party. If an account gets deleted all unread messages to that account are also deleted.

Advertising IDs are used to deliver tailored adverts to you. This ID can be reset in your mobile phone’s operating system.

While using our app we record how you interact with our various features. This is done to understand what features people like and how we might improve our services. This data includes, but is not limited to, how long you spend on a screen, how often you click various interactive elements and the number of questions you’ve submitted. If your app crashes, the next time you start the app a crash report is sent to us. This includes information about the app before the crash occurred. This helps us understand what caused the crash and hopefully allow us to make the app better for you. All this log information is anonymous.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

By creating an account you agree to have your profile shown to other users. You should assume your account is public and therefore viewable by others regardless of what information you have on your bio page. Your public profile (what others can see about you) include: your username, a rough distance measure between your match and you, your account tags, your age, your profile pictures and the description of yourself (bio). If you wish to not be matched with anymore users you can delete all of your profile pictures. This will stop others from matching with you, however, any previous chat partner will still be able to see your profile. If you want to delete your account and all your personal information you can do this from the user settings screen from within the app or through our website. For more help, please contact support.

Sending a message to a user will share that information with that user as well as the timestamp of when the message was sent.

When answering questions other users who you are compatible with (given your match settings) might be shown your profile and the answers you matched on. You can block users so that they won’t be able to match with you in future and won’t be shown any profile updates.

We use third party services for website hosting, database hosting and backend computation. Where possible we try to host these services within the EU but cannot guarantee that no data will be transmitted outside the EU.

We may share your data to protect our legal rights.

4. User Rights

You can update aspects of your profile at any time through our app. If this is not possible you can contact our support team. If you wish to change your gender you can do so in the Settings section of the app. For security reasons, you can only change your gender a limited number of times during a given time period.

You can disable geo location collection through your mobile phone’s operating system. This will impact the accuracy of the matches you make. You can also disable push notifications through your operating system.

You may terminate or request your account to be terminated at any time. This will delete your account and all data associated with your account.

Uninstalling the app will not terminate your account with us but will stop any data collection from happening in the future until you reinstall the app or sign into your account on another device.

Depending on your jurisdiction you may have the right to review all personal information we keep about you. You can contact our support team if you wish to do so. Before we can process any request we must be able to identify you as the rightful owner of the account in question.

5. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your personal information. In the event of a data breach, we will notify you as required by law.

6. Data Retention

We maintain your data as long as your account is active and not deleted. Currently, after 12 months of inactivity your account gets terminated automatically. You will be notified of this by email. You can terminate your account and have all of your data deleted at any time.

7. Changes to the Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through our app or by email.

You can find the latest version of the privacy policy on our website.

8. Advertising

If you are in the EU any advert shown to you will have a Data Privacy Icon button. Clicking this will show you how you can opt out of targeted adverts as well as outlining what information is being collected from you. This includes but may not be limited to your device model, the country you are currently in (inferred from your IP address) and generic log information regarding the number of adverts you have been shown in the past.

All users can disable targeted adverts on a system wide level by going into their mobile phones privacy settings and enabling “Limit Ad Tracking” on iOS or on Android “Opt Out of Ads Personalization”. For more information, please refer to your mobile phone’s operating system support website.
